🎸 My Primary Weapon
Fender Jaguar 4-String Bass
The heart and soul of my current setup. The Jaguar bass is an absolute chameleon, making it the perfect main instrument for tackling everything from aggressive alternative rock to intricate metal lines. Its unique pickup configuration allows me to dial in the exact mid-range punch needed to hear every subtle nuance when tracking audio or testing out a fresh sheet music transcription.
- Why it’s in the main slot: It delivers the precise note definition required for high-level transcription work, ensuring that what I play matches the exact physical mechanics of the songs I break down.
🎛️ Digital Tone & Production Hub
Positive Grid BIAS X
If you’ve wondered how I get that crushing, mix-cutting bass tone for The Studio Sessions, this is the secret sauce. BIAS X is my absolute go-to software for amp modeling, cab simulation, and custom tone creation. It allows me to replicate complex artist rigs—whether I need a grinding, overdriven rock tone or a perfectly compressed, clean pop-punk low end.

Cockos Reaper (DAW)
Every single note I track, analyze, or record for The Studio Sessions flows directly through Reaper. It is the absolute central nervous system of my digital studio. When it comes to transcribing complex basslines, a standard media player doesn’t cut it. Reaper allows me to isolate frequencies, loop intricate fills down to the millisecond, and host my virtual rigs without any system lag. It’s incredibly lightweight, infinitely customizable, and handles heavy audio tracking with absolute rock-solid stability.
- How I use it for Transcriptions: I import the original isolated tracks directly into Reaper, use precise time-stretching tools to slow down blistering fast fills without losing pitch clarity, and split the signal so I can hear my real-time bass tone side-by-side with the mix.

🎼 The Transcription Standard
Guitar Pro
You cannot run a world-class sheet music platform without the industry-standard engine. Guitar Pro is the primary software I use to compose, edit, and finalize the transcriptions that end up on the various marketplaces I publish to. Its playback engine allows me to meticulously check subdivisions, fretboard positioning, and rhythmic accuracy down to the millisecond.

🏛️ The Legacy Vault (Other Gear in My Arsenal)
While the Jaguar and my digital software handle the heavy lifting today, these are the trusted instruments, backups, and legacy gear that have shaped my playing style, technical workflow, and tone over the years.
Instruments & Backup Basses
- Fender Jazz Bass 5 String: This was the second bass I purchased when things got more serious. A fantastic sounding 5 string bass.
- ESP LTD D-5: The bass that started this journey. I wanted a 5 string that didn’t break the budget and this fit the bill perfectly.
Amplification, Effects Pedals & Plugins
- Vox Pathfinder 10 Bass Combo: When I’m not running things through BIAS X and I’m just playing without the distraction of screens etc, this is my go-to. Perfect for those small practice sessions.
