Bass Diary Entry
While Rebellion comes from what is probably my least listened-to Linkin Park album, this track stands out as an absolute highlight. The album overall felt a bit “forced” to me, as if it was trying to return to their roots without fully hitting the mark—but this song breaks the mould entirely. It’s fast, heavy, and full of energy, exactly the kind of intensity I’ve always loved in their music.
Adding to the track’s punch is Daron Malakian guesting on guitar, bringing in some signature riffs that complement the driving rhythm and give the song an extra edge. The bassline locks in tightly with the guitars and drums, creating a compact, energetic foundation that pushes the song forward from start to finish.
From a transcription perspective, this one was a joy to work on. The tempo and aggression of the song make it a fun challenge to nail, but the payoff is massive when you get the groove and dynamics right. It’s one of those tracks that really makes you feel like you’re part of the band when playing along.
Even though the rest of the album doesn’t get as many spins, Rebellion is consistently one I return to, a perfect example of Linkin Park delivering the heavy, precise, and energetic performances I’ve loved since discovering them as a kid.
