January was a brilliant month to kick off the year for The Bass Diaries, with some exciting milestones reached and new projects underway.

An encouraging milestone this month has been audience growth. The work going into consistent publishing and new content has more than doubled website viewers compared with December and tripled compared to October & November, with visitors last month visiting from almost 40 different countries.

The aim now is to carry this momentum into February, continuing to deliver consistent, useful content that helps bass players while steadily growing the community around The Bass Diaries.

🤘 Midweek Mastery

One of the biggest steps forward this month has been the launch of Midweek Mastery, a new weekly series designed to help beginners and developing players build solid foundations on bass.

The aim is simple: give players clear direction on where to start, what to practise, and how to improve consistently. Each week introduces a focused exercise or technique designed to build confidence and clean technique step by step. Over time, this will grow into a structured library players can return to whenever they need guidance or inspiration.

New exercises will continue to be added weekly, steadily building a practical learning pathway for players at the start of their bass journey.

📄 Sheet Music Published – January Summary

January was a particularly strong month for new material. When I get in that zone, nothing can stop me 🤣:

  • 23 songs published
  • 8 different artists covered

A personal highlight this month was reaching a major milestone:

🎉 My 100th published transcription
Mastodon — Blood and Thunder

Hitting triple digits feels like a huge moment, and there’s plenty more to come!

As mentioned last month, new transcriptions may be a little slower over the coming weeks. I’m still working on a non–The Bass Diaries (but still music-related!) project, as I’ll be performing at my sister’s wedding in July. I’ve finished all most of the prep-work I need to do and just a case of practising my butt off now until the big day, but I will still squeeze in time for transcriptions to break things up.

💷 Sales Update

December saw:

  • 9 sheet music sales
  • Across 3 different countries

🏆 Most popular piece:
“Them Bones” – Alice In Chains
