This one came out of nowhere for me.
Every now and then I’ll stick Magic Radio on — bit of a guilty pleasure, and also where I heard The Fate Of Ophelia for the first time — and over the past few months I kept catching snippets of this track. Never enough to fully clock it, just little moments that stuck in my head without knowing who it was or what it was called.
Then I finally heard it properly.
As soon as it clicked, it was one of those “right, I need to sit down and transcribe this” moments.
It’s such a fun track. There’s a theatrical, almost tongue-in-cheek quality to it, but underneath that is a really tight, well put-together groove. It doesn’t take itself too seriously, but musically it absolutely delivers.
For me, this was also a nice change of pace. It’s not a genre I’d usually spend much time in, but that’s exactly why it stood out. Stepping outside that comfort zone keeps things fresh — both as a listener and when it comes to transcribing.
From a bass perspective, it’s got that playful, bouncy feel that really drives the track forward. Nothing overcomplicated, but full of movement and character. It’s one of those lines where the feel matters just as much as the notes themselves.
And honestly, those are sometimes the most enjoyable to work on.
